Job Description
Monitoring all boilers and turbine, bagasse handling, and conveyors to ensure all equipment and machines are running in optimal condition and executes involved level of maintenance work on assemblies/sub-assemblies in the mechanical system of boilers and powerhouse equipment.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring monitoring of boiler equipment, conveyors and all associated equipment are running smoothly.
- Communicating with the Control Room Operator or Foreman and exchanging information on the physical plant status and engaging on options/solutions based on plant knowledge that can be applied to address faults and failures or deviations in the operating parameters.
- Implementing solutions and monitoring the outcomes and providing feedback on the plant status to the Control Room or Foreman.
- Avoid unnecessary downtime by reporting and initialize fixing of any abnormalities to allow preventive maintenance.
- Performs all tasks according to Kilombero Sugar’s Safety, Quality, Health and Environment policies and procedures.
- Monitor the movements of the tractors and front loader during the shift by logging down running hours in a logbook.
- Ensure the fire hydrants and fire hose boxes are not covered by accumulated bagasse and are ready for use.
- Ensure the condensate level is high.
- Record production data and any other required information on appropriate log sheets and logbooks.
Qualifications
- Certificate/Diploma in Mechanics or equivalent from a recognized Institution.
- Certificate in Fitter Mechanics will be an added advantage.
- At least 3 years working in Sugar Industry specifically boiler operation.
Skills
Adhere to Safety and lockout procedure during operation.
Understanding complex plant operations.
Ability to work in hot environments.
